PONTIAC WINS BIG AT THE 24 HOURS OF DAYTONA ROLEX GRAND AMERICAN RACE!

This past week-end we went to the 24 Hours of Daytona to see the Rolex Grand American race in which Milka Duno raced her # 2 Pontiac/Citgo car. Her racing partners were brothers Dario and Mario Franchitti and Dan Wheldon, well-known race-car drivers. Pontiac dominated the field with numerous entries. The race ran from Saturday at 12 noon until Sunday at 12 noon. Milka's car was doing fine until 6 am Sunday when she was involved in an accident with a Porsche.

The four drivers rotated every 6 hours and drove 2 hours straight. Every time she took the wheel she would advance several positions. But in her turn between 4:15 am and 6:30 am Sunday morning, while she was trying to pass a Porsche, the Porsche lost control and hit her from behind pushing her against the wall. At that point she was in 4th place and only 5 seconds from 3rd place. The car was so badly damaged that it could not continue in the race. The accident was not her fault, however, and her partners congratulated her for a job well-done. The first three places were won by Pontiac-powered Daytona prototypes. Pontiac had a tremendously successful race and received a lot of publicity because of it. Below you will see the action that took place in the pits.
