IMPORTANT INFORMATION: BUICK AND PONTIAC ARE HERE TO STAY!

March 24, 2005

MEDIA SPECULATION SURROUNDING GM'S VEHICLE BRANDS . . . Many of you may
have read in various press reports yesterday that Bob Lutz was quoted as
saying we would consider eliminating our Pontiac or Buick Divisions. This
interview took place during the New York Auto Show press days. Please be
assured that the reporting of this is a misrepresentation and incorrect
paraphrasing of the actual comments made.

Let me be clear, we are not, I repeat NOT, discussing the elimination of
any of our brands. To the contrary, we are investing more heavily than
ever in new product and marketing programs to build all of our brands,
drive sales and improve the value of your franchise. Bob Lutz in
particular has been a huge champion for re-igniting the Pontiac and Buick
brands with world-class product.

Please do not be distracted by this unfortunate report or other recent
press reports. There is nothing going on in our business model that
excellent sustained sales performance won't fix. That said, we are
currently having a very solid month and need a strong close for the month
of March and the quarter.

Your support and focus is appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark LaNeve

G6 IS A GREAT SUCCESS!

March 24, 2005
TO: All Pontiac Dealers

RE: G6 Sales Facts

Seems like you can’t open a newspaper without getting another reporter’s opinion on how G6 is performing. Some of these stories are very positive, some not so positive, and some written by journalists who are just misinformed.

The following chart shows monthly sales for G6 thus far:

The Oprah Promotion successfully created awareness of G6, sales are off to a great start, and the trend is very encouraging.
•February was the best month so far and March will set another record.
•Keep in mind that the G6 family will eventually consist of sedans, coupes and convertibles with three engines and three transmissions…8 models in all. We currently only have 2 models of the 3.5L sedan.
•With just 2 of 8 models, G6 has recently been selling at a 90,000 annualized rate. That’s retail only, doesn’t even include fleet!
•Since launch, G6 has outsold the Ford Five Hundred (both vehicles introduced about the same time).
•While Grand Am comparisons are natural, comparing a G6 3.5L sedan to Grand Am including 4-cylinders and coupes is hardly apples-to-apples. In February, G6 retail sales were almost double Grand Am V6 sedan sales last February.
•Despite not having the 4-cylinder price point or extra coupe volume, G6 is already outselling Grand Am year-ago levels in key opportunity markets like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, Orlando, Miami, and West Palm Beach.
•So far this year, G6 sold more units than Scion xA and xB combined.

GM TO ACCELERATE LAUNCH OF NEW TRUCKS!

From Autoweek.com

General Motors CEO Rick Wagoner wants to accelerate the launch of the automaker's next-generation full-sized trucks, but analysts say there isn't much he can do. At most, GM can accelerate the launch of its re-engineered pickups by two or three months, analysts say.

And the SUVs are locked into their introduction schedule; GM might move up their launch by only a few weeks. The 2007-model Chevrolet and GMC SUVs are expected to go on sale in January, with the 2007 Cadillac Escalade following a month or two later.

GM's big pickups originally were scheduled to debut late in 2006. "Given the state and the size of the (GM900) program and the number of plants involved, obviously it's a big challenge to move it up a lot," Wagoner said during a Wednesday, March 16, teleconference with analysts and journalists. "But we've been doing a lot of work on that. Our intention is to try to advance the date."

GM RECALLS MINIVANS AND G6s!

From the Associated Press

DETROIT (AP) -- General Motors Corp. is recalling 77,055 minivans because their rear brake lights or hazard lights can stop working, federal safety regulators and the world's biggest automaker said Thursday.

The recall involves Chevrolet Astro and GMC Safari minivans from the 2001 and 2002 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said a circuit problem could cause the lights to stop working, which could lead to a crash.

GM spokesman Alan Adler said there have been no injuries related to the defect. GM dealers will repair the lights for free.

NHTSA also said Thursday that GM is recalling 35,777 of its 2005 Pontiac G6 sedans because the owner's manual doesn't say there is a child restraint anchor in the middle of the back seat. NHTSA said owners could have difficulty installing child seats if they aren't aware of the anchor.
Adler said GM will mail information about the child seat anchors to G6 owners this month.

G6 RECALL IS NO BIG DEAL!

From Autoblog.com

GM is back in the news with two new recall campaigns. The one that will get the most news pertains to the G6. People will love to slam GM because they are recalling the new sedan already – until you understand what the recall is for. 35,000 G6s get an offical recall notice “because the owner’s manual doesn’t say there is a child restraint anchor in the middle of the back seat.” That’s just silly. I’m sure a few years ago GM would have sent the addendum to the owner’s manual in the mail, but now it’s front page news. Anyone looking to install a child seat would have found the anchor (the thing in the middle of the package tray) without the user manual’s help. Does anyone really read the manual anyway? People need to chill out.

TAKE A PICTURE OF A G6 AND WIN A MILLION!

Look at all the consumerism going on here! You have to go search out a G6 (it’s OK if you stalk them down at the local Pontiac dealer instead of finding them in the wild) make sure you have upgraded your cell phone to one with a camera (yes, there are a few of us still not sold why our cell needs a camera. None of our photos could be as interesting as Paris Hilton’s) and you need email capability (or at least pay for it) and send the photo to win@catchaG6.com. You can even download a G6 ringtone that had us baffled, forcing a click. It’s a MIDI version of “Should I Stay or Should I Go”, the Clash song that is being used in the G6 commercials. We’re sorry Joe Strummer, wherever you are. Pontiac has been nothing but resourceful with trying to create a buzz for the G6.

Just snap a photo of any Pontiac G6 - on the road, at a dealer lot, pretty much anywhere. Then send it to win@catchaG6.com until March 18th, 2005, and you're entered in. It's that simple.
But before you do that, you have to know exactly what you're looking for. So we've provided this handy guide that'll give you plenty of pics, specs, dealer locations, and events to help you in your quest to: See one. Snap one. And send one to win@catchaG6.com.

GM ANNNOUNCES NEW INCENTIVES!

Automotive News---March 8th, 2005

DETROIT -- General Motors, hurt by weaker U.S. sales this year and high inventories, will roll out a new consumer incentive program on Thursday that includes a $1,000 cash rebate toward vehicles that have been unsold for more than 120 days, dealers said on Tuesday. The "March Madness" sale, which can be combined with other sales incentives, is GM's first national incentive program since the automaker named a new head of North American sales and marketing last week. A GM spokeswoman declined to comment on the incentives. "No program is final until it's final. I have nothing to announce today," said GM spokeswoman Deborah Silverman.

One Michigan dealer, who described his January and February sales as "horrible," said: "We need something for momentum. I'm pretty optimistic that it will give us the momentum we need." GM's U.S. sales so far this year have fallen more than 6 percent, and the automaker has scaled back production, as highlighted by last week's news that it would lay off 3,000 workers at a Michigan plant and cease production of the cars made there. Through the first two months of this year, GM had scaled back on its profit-punishing incentives and national advertisements announcing new discount deals, analysts said. But lackluster U.S. sales and high inventories of unsold vehicles meant that GM had to announce another high-profile incentive program sooner or later, analysts and dealers said.

GM offered an average of $3,814 in cash rebates and cut-rate financing on every new vehicle it sold in February, according to industry tracking firm Autodata. That was more than any other automaker, but 9 percent less than GM's average incentives in February 2004, it said. Last week, GM named Mark LaNeve, who had been instrumental in the resurrection of GM's Cadillac brand, as group vice president of North American sales and marketing. His predecessor, John Smith, was named to the new position of group vice president for global product planning.

Paul Ballew, GM's executive director of global market and industry analysis, said last week that GM's vehicle inventories grew in February, ahead of the usual "spring selling season," and the automaker hoped to cut those inventories heading into the second half of the year.

PONTIAC DOES IT AGAIN AT THE GRAND PRIX OF MIAMI! TAKES FIRST FOUR PLACES!

Pontiac-powered Daytona prototypes took five of the top six finishes of the Rolex Sports Car Series in Homestead on Saturday. Wayne Taylor and Max Angelelli, fresh from having won the 24-Hours of Daytona, in their Pontiac Riley, came in first place beating out Elliott Forbes-Robinson and Butch Leitzinger by 1.198 seconds.

Milka Duno and Andy Wallace could not repeat their wins of last year in Homestead. From the start their Pontiac Crawford had handling problems. During two different pit stops there were huge fireballs caused by leaking gas. Andy Wallace did an admirable job by moving from the 30th position to 9th at the end of the race.

Milka was extremely disappointed by the bad luck they encountered and is now preparing for the next race in California.
